Desde su segunda temporada, Fringe ha tenido la sombra de la cancelación a sus espaldas por culpa de la mala programación que hacen los directivos de Fox en EEUU. La serie se emitía contra Grey's Anatomy y CSI, programas que suelen tener de las mejores audiencias (sobretodo CSI) y con una audiencia fiel.
En esta tercera temporada la serie saltó a los viernes, el día con menor consumo televisivo de la semana y donde suelen emitirse series con poca audiencia para terminar siendo canceladas.
Fox pedía a los fans calma antes el miedo de la pérdida de la serie diciendo que el hecho de moverla al viernes no significaba su próxima desaparición, sino que no había hueco en la programación por American Idol, que se emite la noche del miércoles y el jueves (cuando se emitía Fringe).
La serie aguantó muy bien en su nueva ubicación pero esta semana bajó bastante y se ha hecho público un ultimátum a la serie. O se cancela o se pasa a rodar en Vancouver, donde los gastos de producción bajarían considerablemente pero significaría el traslado de todo el equipo.
Muchas series como Smallville se ruedan por este motivo en Vancouver, y han habido casos como el de Ugly Betty de la Abc, que pasó de Nueva York a Vancouver por la pérdida considerable de audiencia que obligaba a abaratar costes para evitar finalizarla.
Aceptarán el trato y nos darán una cuarta temporada, o se nos acabó Fringe? Actualmente el equipo se encuentra rodando el final de temporada por lo que de terminar, sería poco probable de que pudieran hacer un final cerrado y eso sería imperdonable con el gran momento que vive la serie.

From his second season, Fringe had the shade of the cancellation to his backs through the fault of the bad programming that the directors of Fox in the USA.
