Steven Speilber, prestigioso director de recordadas películas como E.T, ha preparado una nueva serie musical al estilo de Glee, que producirá y que ha recibido el aprobado por parte de Nbc al ver su piloto. La serie que la describen como una ambiciosa hora musical, se llamará Smash y estará inspirada en una idea del director, y que consiste en un grupo de personajes que quieren llegar a hacer juntos un musical de Broadway.Por lo visto se habla de que harán música original, al contrario que en Glee que son versiones. Desconocemos como le irá a la nueva producción pero Nbc no levanta cabeza desde hace años, y la sombra de Glee es muy alargada.
Desde que Fox estrenó la serie de Ryan Murphy, las demás han estado buscando su musical que les de las altas ventas de itunes y discos, la muy buena audiencia y el seguimiento que tiene.
Abc ya informó que haría un musical con Idina Menzel, que apareció en Glee como la profesora de los más directos rivales, The CW, canal juvenil de EEUU que emiten serie teen como Gossip Girl o 90210, tambien confirmó que haría la suya propia.
El modelo a seguir aparte de la serie de Fox es High School Musical, que tuvo tanta repercusión que saltó al cine, consiguiendo más de 100 millones de dólares en la taquilla americana.
Un director de cine prestigioso no siempre es un reclamo seguro, anteriormente James Cameron produjo a partir de su idea Dark Angel y no le fue muy bien.
Spielberg tiene además de Smash, Terra Nova que se estrenará en mayo.
