Hace años que se intenta llevar al cine y a la tv a la superheroina de DC por excelencia. Primero fue Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly) quien intentó llevar adelante el proyecto con Beyoncé como principal candidata a encarnar a Wonder Woman. No se supo nada más y se perdió la pista hasta que David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) quien ha preparado una serie de televisión aprovechando que Diana (alter ego de Wonder Woman) es abogada.
Esta sería la tercera serie de superheroes del canal después de la cancelada Heroes, y la estrenada con poca repercusión The Cape.
David E. Kelley ha presentado el proyecto a todas las cadenas y parece que le ha costado que se la aceptaran, de hecho se pensaba que no llegaría a verse en la próxima temporada. El creador describe el personaje como " una mujer real, con complejos, no únicamente una superheroína".
Lo único que se sabe de momento sobre el proyecto es que la protagonista luchará contra el crimen de Los Angeles, y al mismo tiempo tendrá que compaginarlo con su trabajo en su vida normal.No es la primera vez que Diana aparece en la televisión, ya en 1976, en la Abc, Lynda Carter se enfundó el traje de Wonder Woman durante tres temporadas. La primera temporada no consiguió renovar y la serie saltó a la Cbs, donde sufrió modificaciones y duró dos años más.
Nbc esta intentando salir del bache en el que se encuentra en el 2011, ha adquirido Smash de Steven Spielberg, y Mann's World del director de Sex and the City que trata sobre un estilista de Los Angeles.
El personaje fue creada por William Moulton Marston y su primera aparición fue en 1941. Es de las primera mujeres heroínas y de las más populares.
Se ideó como un personaje feminista y es considerada junto a Batman y Superman, los tres superhéroes más importantes de DC Comics.
Su verdadera identidad es Diana, princesa de las amazona y que toma su nombre de la diosa griega de la caza. Fue formada en arcilla por su madre Hipólita y cobró vida por la súplica de esta a Afrodita. Diana posee la sabiduría de Atenea, fuerza de Hércules y la velocidad de Hermes.
En lugar de quedarse en el paraíso junto a las amazonas, Diana cogió el sobrenombre de Wonder Woman para ayudar en a los humanos, y además ejerció de abogada para poder mezclarse entre ellos.
