En mayo del 2010 volvió Christina Aguilera al panorama musical después de cuatro años sin material nuevo. Bajo una nueva estética (como viene siendo habitual en ella) y una cuenta atrás fue despertando la expectación del público y presentando como single Not Myself Tonight. Aguilera es reconocida por su potente voz, pero el 2010 pasó completamente a un segundo plano ante las nuevas estrellas.
La carrera de Christina tuvo su punto álgido con Stripped, uno de nuestros discos preferidos donde mostró ser una cantante versátil y con una técnica vocal espectacular, desvinculándose de otras artistas parecidas como Britney Spears con la que la prensa comparaba constantemente.
Se hizo un lugar respetable en el mercado musical, arriesgando y dejando al personal sin habla con sus directos. Le llovieron los premios y recordaba a las divas de los 50 y 60 como Etta James, la cantante preferida de Christina.
En el 2006 lanzó Back To Basics un disco no muy comercial inspirado en los años 50 mezclado con el pop actual, sin duda una mezcla curiosa que le salió bien y la determinó como una de las grandes.
Pero dejó pasar demasiado tiempo sin sacar un disco algo más comercial y a su vuelta las constantes comparaciones con Lady GaGa jugaron en su contra. Su vídeo Not Myself Tonight fue de lo peor del año sin duda acabando con su imagen de cantante seria y respetada, pareciendo una más del mercado y provocando el fracaso absoluto del disco Bionic. Por este hecho, la gira que tendría a Leona Lewis como telonera, no llegó a realizarse y hoy se ha filtrado el anuncio que se emitiría en televisión.
Una pena porque Aguilera es una bestia en el escenario, que si se preocupara menos por su imagen y trabajara más, sobretodo en lo que a promoción se refiere, le iría mucho mejor.
Burlesque le dio buenas noticias a finales de año, pero una vez más ha pasado de aprovechar el momento y trabajar, y ahora es noticia por su vida personal más que por la profesional. Su puesto de jueza en un talent show podría devolverla a lo alto del panorama musical como le ha pasado a Jennifer López con American Idol, que pasó de ser despedida por su discográfica, a situarse en el nº1 de Itunes y en el top 10 de Billboard con On The Floor.
